Golf news: Rory McIlroy violates rules as Scheffler and Rahm on the charge
We are now two rounds into the 2025 US PGA Championship, and once again last night, all eyes were on Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman is up against it to follow his historic Grand Slam win at the Masters with a third PGA title, but he will be here for the weekend after scraping inside the cut line.
Playing partner and defending champion Xander Schauffele was also sweating before booking his place for the weekend. World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is ominously placed though, five under and just three shots off surprise leader Jhonattan Vegas.
However, a number of big names are already heading home. Former champions Phil Mickleson, Martin Kaymer and Brooks Koepka all missed the cut, along with Irish hopeful Shane Lowry.
